Rumors began swirling that Jordan Spieth could be among the next PGA Tour defectors for LIV Golf but the three-time major winner set the record straight.

Jordan Spieth has been a star for the PGA Tour, regardless of whether or not he’s at the top of his game. At his best and worst, he’s a frenetic ball of energy that golf fans can’t look away from. When you then throw in his success, including three major wins at such a young age, it’s no surprise that he has as large of a following as any golfer in the world save for Tiger Woods.

So when rumors began circulating late on Thursday night that Spieth was now in negotiations with the upstart LIV Golf tour and could potentially be the next defector, the alarm bells were going off — even when some people, including Golf Channel commentator Colt Knost, shot down the rumor.

Subsequently, after his second round at the Scottish Open on Friday, Spieth felt he needed to release a statement (via the Notes app, so you know it’s real) to address the situation. And he was pretty darn emphatic in his stance.

Jordan Spieth denies any LIV Golf interest, rumors in strong statement

So much for the rumors that he’s heading to join Greg Norman, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and the like with LIV.

At this point, it feels as if the top players in the world should almost feel disrespected if they aren’t mentioned as a potential LIV Golf defector. Just about everyone, to varying degrees of seriousness, has been part of a rumor at some time.

But while Hideki Matsuyama appears to be the next player that’s on the move, Spieth remains committed to the PGA Tour. If it’s said in the Notes app statement, you know it’s gospel.
