Dante Moore is taking his five-star commitment to the Oregon football program for 2023.

Dan Lanning put a five-star on it, as Dante Moore has committed to the Oregon football program.

Moore had been leaning towards Oregon for some time, but he officially committed to the Ducks on Friday afternoon. He visited the Eugene campus back on April 29 with offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham serving as his primary recruiter to Oregon. Moore picked the Ducks over the likes of LSU, his home state’s flagship of Michigan, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. What a get for the Ducks!

As it is with everything these days, nothing is official until Hayes Fawcett tweets out his graphic.

Oregon football procures the illustrious commitment of 5-star QB Dante Moore

According to the 247Sports Composite, Moore is the No. 1 player from Michigan, the No. 4 quarterback in the country and the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle. The Detroit native had 40 official offers, but only made two official visits: to LSU on April 22 and to Oregon the following week on April 29. Oregon was locked in on Moore from the start and got its quarterback.

Moore is 6-foot-2.5 and 210 pounds. He projects as a future first-round pick in the NFL. His best traits are of the intangible variety (leadership, poise, etc.), but he does throw an accurate football with timing and anticipation. Moore has a smooth delivery with little mechanical issues. Though he can run a little bit, that is not as big of a part of his game as his passing capabilities. He has some velocity, but that is not a focal point.

Ultimately, the Ducks got themselves a quarterback they can win a ton of games with in the coming years. The expectation is he will be his own version of a Joey Harrington, Marcus Mariota and Justin Herbert in due time. Oregon has a rich history of great passers, but it will be up to Moore to maximize on all talent he possesses. This is such a massive get for Lanning’s program.

Lanning has not even coached a game yet, and his Ducks are already winning big in recruitment.
