White Sox: 1 stat proves Tony La Russa should be fired

Tony La Russa is on the hot seat and his White Sox are struggling. A popular World Series pick before the season is on the ropes at the All-Star break.

Firing La Russa, a veteran manager, may not be the answer, but perhaps a different voice is exactly what this team needs to wake up in the second half.

While it would be unfair to say the South Siders aren’t responding to La Russa, as that’s likely not true, Chicago hasn’t looked motivated to play for its 77-year-old manager this season. Perhaps it’s disconnect, or just a well gone dry — but La Russa doesn’t have those magic words this year.

White Sox: Is firing Tony La Russa the answer?

The Orioles have a better shot at making the playoffs than the White Sox, as things currently stand.

Carig isn’t wrong. Entering the day, Baltimore had a half-game advantage.

Seemingly every home series ends with some form of “Fire Tony” chants, so doing so would appease a fan base which had high expectations coming into the year. Letting go of a Hall-of-Fame worthy skipper isn’t always the answer — heck, it’s rarely the answer — but La Russa has lost his touch.

Despite the likes of Tim Anderson and even younger players on the roster standing up for their manager, he’s made far too many questionable decisions this season, making himself the storyline rather than his team.
