3 players from Warriors Summer League team who could make regular-season roster
2. Lester Quinones
The Warriors snapped Quinones up on a two-way contract after going undrafted for one obvious reason. The former Memphis standout has the sort of stroke from 3-point distance that could make him an excellent floor spacer at the NBA level.
That shooting ability, combined with solid size and decent athleticism makes it easy to envision a path towards a decent carer for Quinones. The downside to his game is that he doesn’t do anything other than shoot at even an average rate at the moment.
The best thing for Quinones would be to spend a year in the G-League perfecting his movement off the ball and working to add a secondary skill to his arsenal. The easiest secondary skill to build might be rebounding since he did show a nose for the ball during his time as a collegiate.
If Quinones starts really shooting the ball well this summer the Warriors may feel compelled to convert him to a conventional deal sooner, rather than later. Spreading the floor is a vital tenant of Steve Kerr’s offensive system and Quinones is a player who can fit into that style of play.
