Jacksonville Jaguars: RB Travis Etienne

It’s been a miserable stretch for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team owns a combined 15-50 record the past four seasons. A year ago, the team hired college legend Urban Meyer to be its newest head coach but he lasted a mere 13 games. There was a 20-game losing streak in the midst of 2020-21 – second-longest in NFL history.

And even before the season began a year ago, the second of the team’s 2022 first-round draft choices was lost for the year But keep an eye on running back Travis Etienne, who played with quarterback Trevor Lawrence at Clemson. A reminder that in four seasons with the Tigers, he ran for a combined 4,952 yards and an impressive 70 touchdowns.

Kansas City Chiefs: S Justin Reed

It’s safe to say he has some big cleats to fill. But it also would be a shock if four-year pro Justin Reid isn’t up to the task in some capacity. Of course, duplicating the play-making abilities of Tyrann Mathieu. During his three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, he was named to a pair of Pro Bowls and earned All-Pro honors twice. There were a total of 17 takeaways, including 13 interceptions, in 47 regular-season contests.

As for Reid, the 2018 second-round selection from Stanford University picked off seven passes and recovered three fumbles in four seasons with the Houston Texans. And it’s purely coincidental but Reid’s best season came during his rookie campaign – when he and Mathieu were teammates.
