Charles Barkley set to meet with LIV Golf about potential role on the tour
By Mark Powell
Charles Barkley’s golf swing sure isn’t pretty, but his social media presence and overall notoriety around the sports world sure is. LIV has interest.
The LIV Tour is backed by Saudi money. Lots and lots of it, hence why the PGA Tour is worried about their most direct competition, and well-known players leaving for it.
Those PGA Tour players do not include Charles Barkley, of course. The Inside the NBA host is reportedly in talks with the LIV Tour about a role. While his golf swing is hilariously unpredictable, considering the money LIV is likely offering the NBA legend, these negotiations have only one logical conclusion.
In an appearance on ‘The Next Round’, Barkley confirmed some interest from LIV.
“Nothing that’s imminent, I actually don’t know everything they want from me, or what they technically want me to do, but you’ve got to always look at every opportunity that’s available,” Barkley said. “So the answer to your question is, 100 percent yes, I’m going to meet with LIV.”
What sort of role will Charles Barkley have with the LIV golf?
One month after Barkley rooted for chaos at the US Open, LIV has reached out to Barkley about linking up in some way, shape or form.
By chaos, Barkley of course meant LIV Tour players competing alongside PGA Tour mainstays, in hopes of a close finish between golfers of rival leagues. This sort of competition is something the PGA Tour has never before had to deal with.

The likes of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Co. reportedly received upwards of nine-figures to join the LIV Tour. While one would imagine Barkley’s role would primarily be in broadcasting or more of a social stunt, who is going to turn down that kind of money?
