Heat rumors, Jamaree Bouyea

2. Jamaree Bouyea

Bouyea has already showed the Heat brass enough to earn an Exhibit 10 deal which means he’ll enter training camp with the team. He doesn’t wow you with any individual skill, but he’s a solid point guard prospect that flashes two-way ability.

His defensive chops are what likely endears him most to Erik Spoelstra and the team’s coaching staff. He does a nice job of using his quickness to stay in front of opposing guards and his quick hands permit him to force steals that get his team out on the break.

The former San Francisco star’s offensive game is more of a work in progress. He’s a little undersized for the League and his lack of a consistent three-point shot is holding back his upside. In the end, Bouyea projects as a potential third point guard which would be decent value for an undrafted prospect.

Fans of Bouyea shouldn’t feel great about his chances to start the season on the main roster, but he possesses a fighting chance. He may be working as hard to differentiate himself from other team’s guards as anyone he’s playing with this summer.
