Take a look at the bracket for the 2022 Home Run Derby on MLB All-Star week in Los Angeles, Calif.
The MLB All-Star Game is just days away, as the biggest stars in the American and National League battle it out at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. While the game takes place on July 19, the night prior will probably be the most entertaining portion of the week. Of course, that is the Home Run Derby.
Day by day, there are new additions made to the list of competitors. New York Mets star Pete Alonso will defend his title, looking to be the first player to ever win three consecutive Home Run Derbies. He will face off against Ronald Acuña Jr., Albert Pujols, Jose Ramirez, Kyle Schwarber, Julio Rodriguez, Corey Seager and Juan Soto.

Home Run Derby format explained
The format of the Home Run Derby is straightforward. It is a single-elimination tournament, which will feature three rounds. The player who is the higher seed bats second in their matchup. Once they surpass the total number of home runs hit by the first player in that particular round, it is over.
In regards to the timing, players will be given three minutes each in the first and second rounds, while the finals will only be two minutes.
Players will be given 30-seconds of bonus time in each round, but they can increase it to 60 seconds if they are able to hit a home run further than 475-feet in regulation time.
