ESPN analyst Chris Canty has tabbed Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott as the most overrated player in football.

On his list of the five most overrated players in the NFL today, ESPN analyst Chris Canty views Dallas Cowboys quarterback as a cut above the rest.

Canty’s starting five that nobody wants to be a part of features Prescott, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, new Los Angeles Chargers pass-rusher Khalil Mack and Chargers safety Derwin James.

So basically, we have got two former top-10 picks at running back who get hurt all the time, two other first-round picks on the Chargers defense who have never won anything of note professionally, and Prescott…

While he may quarterback America’s Team, Prescott was a former fourth-round pick out of Mississippi State. He is a lot of things, but being overrated is certainly not one of them.

Chris Canty: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is NFL’s most overrated player

Are there downsides to being the quarterback for the most popular sports franchise in North America? Absolutely, but having staying power at said position is a testament to the greatness of the player in question. Not everybody can handle the pressure of being the face of the Cowboys, outside of Jerry Jones, of course. Plus, Prescott has earned everything he has received thus far.

Not since Barry Switzer was their esteemed head coach have the Cowboys won four playoff games. In a quarter of a century, we have had more Presidents of the United States of America than playoff victories for America’s Team. When you only have one more postseason hit than the 1990s alternative rock group The Presidents of the United States of America, you have a problem.

While Prescott may have to take his lumps with Canty’s critique of him, the Cowboys will be eating a lot of peaches if they take care of business this season. The NFC is down as a whole, as the NFC East is wide open. Canty’s Giants have no shot at the division crown, but Dallas could be the first team to repeat since the 2003-04 Andy Reid era Philadelphia Eagles did it with Donovan McNabb.

Just because Prescott did not vomit up Campbell’s Chunky Soup while playing in the Super Bowl does not mean he is overrated.
