2. Juan Soto trade destination: New York Yankees

Whenever there’s a superstar that’s hitting the trade market, you obviously know that the New York Yankees are going to be involved — that’s kind of their brand. So with Juan Soto on the market, the Bronx Bombers are almost surely going to be hitting the horn to see what they can work out.

More so than other times, however, putting Soto in pinstripes would make a ton of sense for the current state of the franchise.

The Yankees made a big swing for Joey Gallo last season ahead of the trade deadline and the results, to put it kindly, have not been what the club was hoping for. He’s struggled to just make contact with a pitch as of late, much less put the ball over the fence. For a lineup that’s already full of guys who tend to strike out relatively often, that’s not at all what they need.

Soto would be a natural fit alongside Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup with the pop and game-changing power he brings to the table while also being less of a liability than someone like Gallo. Moreover, he would also provide a bit of Judge insurance as the big-bodied outfielder’s future is also less than certain at this point.
