Will Anderson Jr. says Alabama will ‘address’ Texas A&M, Jimbo Fisher when they play

Will Anderson Jr. says Alabama will settle its beef with Texas A&M on the field in October.

Though Will Anderson Jr. admitted he is not all that interested in social media discourse, he did say everything between Alabama and Texas A&M will be settled on the field in October.

The Crimson Tide will host emerging SEC West rival Texas A&M at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Oct. 8. Not only did head coaches Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher used to work together at LSU back in the day, but they got into a little bit of a NIL feud this summer, alright. It has only added fuel to the fire of this budding rivalry. Texas A&M beat the Crimson Tide in College Station last season…

Here is what Anderson said to the college football media at SEC Media Days on Tuesday morning.

"“I watched it, I saw,” said Anderson about the NIL feud between his head coach and Texas A&M’s. “I don’t really get into social media stuff. When we play Texas A&M, everything will be addressed there.”"

Anderson was a unanimous All-American a season ago. Had he been draft-eligible, he would have been the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft over Georgia defensive end Travon Walker and Michigan pass-rusher/Heisman Trophy finalist Aidan Hutchinson. Anderson will be the first non-quarterback drafted in 2023, and is an absolute lock to be coming off the board in the top five.

When you are regularly the hunted like Alabama is these days, you know you are going to get the opposition’s A-game more often than not. It may not be enough to beat you, but you have to be ready for it. What is intriguing about Anderson’s comments is it is abundantly clear that this game between the Crimson Tide and the Aggies is one circled on the Alabama football team’s calendar.

Alabama will be favored in every game it plays this year. Then again, the Crimson Tide were not expected to fall in College Station last season. They still made it to Atlanta and the national title bout, but the Texas A&M loss has to sting a bit. The Aggies were not a great team a year ago like Georgia was. For guys like Anderson, they will want to leave school with a win over Texas A&M.

While it remains to be seen how regularly Alabama and Texas A&M will play once the SEC expands to 16 teams to include Oklahoma and Texas, hopefully well before 2025, it has been an underrated rivalry since the Aggies joined the league in 2012. The Fisher and Saban connections have made it even more compelling. In the meantime, we cannot wait to see them duke it out in early October.

If Anderson plays up to his potential this fall, he should be going to the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
