Dodgers fans recruited Juan Soto in middle of All-Star Game

Coming off a big All-Star week in Los Angeles, Dodgers fans are making their push for Juan Soto.

The big question in baseball circles right now is whether will Juan Soto still be a Washington National by the August 2 trade deadline. If he isn’t? The Los Angeles Dodgers could be players in his trade market, or at least Dodger fans believe so.

No need to for Andrew Friedman or the LA front office to pull out all the stops, because the fanbase was actively recruiting Soto during the All-Star Game.

Los Angeles is already loaded roster-wise, especially after adding Freddie Freeman to a team that already has superstars galore, including an outfielder who Soto is surely looking to top in salary: Mookie Betts. Imagining an outfield configuration with Juan Soto AND Mookie Betts at Chavez Ravine is jarring and would propel the Dodgers back to being prohibitive title favorites once again.

And what Dodger fan wouldn’t want to see a Soto-Betts tandem, especially after Soto’s electrifying Home Run Derby win on Monday night? The rest of baseball probably wouldn’t be as ecstatic about that, though.

As for LA’s chances of actually landing the superstar outfielder? They’re always in the running for big-time players on the trade block, as we saw with Max Scherzer and Trea Turner last summer. New York Post Insider Jon Heyman gives the Dodgers the second-best odds to make a trade for Soto, behind only the Texas Rangers.

Money and prospect capital never seem to be an issue for the Dodgers, and neither does fan recruitment, as was apparent Tuesday night at the All-Star Game. If all the stars line up, perhaps Los Angeles is squarely in the mix to trade for one of the best hitters and overall in our game today.
