The Arizona Cardinals extended Kyler Murrayās contract before the start of training camp. With one star QB off the board, whoās next?
Murrayās deal will make him the second-highest paid quarterback in all of football, for now, behind only Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. No. 12 likely deserves that title, while the same probably canāt be said for Murray, who still has to prove himself on the big stage.
Yet, itās impossible to deny Murrayās potential, and the reality that heās one of the more exciting players in all of football. Throwing to DeAndre Hopkins ought to help matters, though heāll be suspended for the first six games of the 2022 season for taking PEDs.
As far as predicting who the next players signed to massive extensions goes, the lineup is relatively obvious in NFL circles.
Whoās next? 4 quarterbacks to be signed after Kyler Murray
Lamar Jackson
Jackson has been next in line for quite some time.
While his contract negotiations have been unique to say the least, given he doesnāt have an agent, Jackson will be paid his worth in due time. His family and trusted friends take care of much of his finances.
Some can rightly question Lamarās longevity given his playing style, but heās still a former MVP and just 25 years of age. Heās set to play out the final year of his rookie option, where he will make $23 million guaranteed.
Jackson carried the Ravens at times last year, and thatās being generous to the roster Baltimore put around him. An oft-injured core of running backs meant Lamar could only take the Ravens so far. And eventually, even he went down with an injury.
But Jackson has earned his keep and then some. He is next and line, and donāt be surprised if it happens in the coming days.
