Giants coach warned by umpires not to steal Dodgers signs

The Los Angeles Dodgers believed that San Francisco Giants first base coach Antoan Richardson was trying to get a view of pitcher Tyler Anderson’s glove.
Following the MLB All-Star break, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants met in a four-game series beginning on Thursday. The Dodgers took the first game on July 21 on a 9-6 win. As for the second game, it got off to a strange start.
In the very first at-bat of the game, Dodgers pitcher Tyler Anderson was visited by pitching coach Mark Prior, which caused the umpires to convene. They then told Giants first base coach Antoan Richardson to stand back in the first base coaches box.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game that they believed that Richardson was trying to relay signs to Austin Slater at home plate.

Anderson spoke about the incident after the game as well, saying that Prior believed that Richardson was trying to get a look at his glove. You can listen to his comments at the 46-second mark of the video below, courtesy of NBC LA’s Michael J. Duarte.
When asked about the situation in his postgame press conference, Kapler said that umpires told him that Richardson needed to stand inside the first base coaches box and that they would enforce it for both teams. Kapler also said that he does not believe that Richardson was trying to relay signs. You can listen to his comments in the video below, via the SF Giants on NBCS Twitter account.
The Dodgers went on to win the game 5-1.
Both teams were tied at one run apiece since the top of the fourth inning, but that all changed after Cody Bellinger hit a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Giants could not get a run to score in the top of the ninth despite Thairo Estrada hitting a single and Luis Gonzalez hitting a pinch-hit double.
Anderson allowed just one run on four hits and struck out six batters in six full innings.
