Brooklyn Nets guard Seth Curry explains why teaming up with his brother Steph is not his preferred choice.
There have been instances where siblings have teamed up together in the NBA. Brook and Robin Lopez. Marcus and Markieff Morris. Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Just to name a few.
During an interview with Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, Seth Curry was asked about potentially teaming up with his older brother, Golden State Warriors star Steph. While he did not rule it out, Seth says that reuniting with Steph is not his desire right now.
“You never know what the future holds,” said Curry, h/t NBC Sports Bay Area. “I wouldn’t be against it, but it’s definitely not my preferred choice to be on the same team as him definitely right now. I also like competing against him and trying to beat the best.”
Seth Curry does not rule out potentially teaming with Steph in future
After finishing his college career with Duke, Seth was signed by the Warriors as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He appeared in six preseason games before he was waived by the team.
From there, he spent time with the Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and Portland Trail Blazers before joining the Philadelphia 76ers in 2020.
Curry was part of the notable James Harden trade this past season, where he was moved to the Brooklyn Nets alongside Ben Simmons and Andre Drummond.
Through 64 games with the 76ers and Nets this past season, Seth averaged 15.0 points, 3.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 48.7-percent from the field and 42.2-percent from the three-point line.
As for Steph, he had a great return to the playoffs for the first time in 2019. The Warriors got past the Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks to clinch a spot in the NBA Finals. From there, the Warriors beat the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the fourth time in eight years. Curry was named the Finals MVP for the first time in his career.
While he did not rule out teaming up with his older brother, Seth’s intention is to play on a separate team.
