The Chicago Cubs could benefit from having Juan Soto on their team, but they may have to trade their top prospect for him.

Juan Soto has been the center of trade talk among MLB this season. Several teams are targeting him, and the Washington Nationals aren’t making it easy to acquire him. Teams will have to create a great trade package to even be considered, and the Chicago Cubs would have to include their top prospect Brennen Davis.

Davis made his way from High-A to Double-A to Triple-A last season, and he’s currently still playing at the Triple-A level. His power seems to be low compared to other seasons, but he’s consistently produced isolated power above .200.

Last season at Triple-A, Davis hit .268/.397/.536 for an OPS of .933 and produced an isolated power of .268. His potential shows he’d be a great replacement for Soto with more development.

Davis is an outfielder that hits with a lot of power, just like Soto. Last season, Davis had great walk and strikeout percentages (16.2 and 22.1, respectively). He has a lot of potential and may be an enticing offer as part of a trade package for the Nationals.

The Cubs aren’t struggling too much with their outfielders in the lineup this season, but they could still benefit from trading for Soto. Their current outfielders hit with decent power, but most don’t have great walk and strikeout percentages.

Nelson Velazquez, for example, hits with the most power among outfielders on the Cubs. He has an isolated power of .286, but has a walk percentage of 7.9 and strikeout percentage of 31.6.

The Cubs have some cleaning up to do on their roster, but that could be at the expense of their best prospect if they want to acquire one of the best current MLB players.
