The Green Bay Packers traded away one of the league’s best wide receivers in Davante Adams but failed to replace him in free agency.
The Green Bay Packers have a no-doubt Hall of Famer at quarterback with Aaron Rodgers, but his weapons aren’t as solid. After they traded Devante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, they really weren’t able to lock down a legitimate number one wide receiver to replace him.
There were several options out there in free agency but none that the Packers were able to bring to Green Bay, let’s look at 3 options they missed out on.
Wide receiver the Green Bay Packers missed out on – Julio Jones
Julio Jones isn’t the player he was a few years ago, when he was one of the league’s best but he still has some left in the tank. Jones is the type of receiver who would work well for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers– a big target that can dominate in the red zone with his size and athleticism.
Jones only played in 10 games last year but he still averaged 14 yards-per-catch and has never averaged less than 13.8 yards-per-catch in his 11-year career.
Last season Jones only had one drop, and over his career, he has been pretty consistent in catching the ball when the quarterback gets it to him. Jones only signed a one-year deal worth $6 million, showing that he wasn’t going to break the bank if the Packers had targeted him as a new target for Rodgers.
