Seattle and DK Metcalf finally worked out a contract much to the delight of Seahawks Twitter even though people still wonder who will throw him the ball.

Seahawks Twitter spent the first few days of training camp biting their nails over the contract dispute between DK Metcalf and the team.

Their star receiver was not practicing because he was waiting for a new deal from Seattle.

He finally got it on Thursday as the Seahawks gave him a historic $30-million signing bonus as part of his three-year, $72-million extension. No receiver has ever received that big of a signing bonus. Terry McLaurin just set the record with the Commanders at $28 million before this contract.

His teammates and fans were ecstatic about the news.

Metcalf’s former quarter Russell Wilson also got in on the congrats.

Of course, the fact that Wilson is in Denver now made the jokes at the Seahawks’ expense write themselves.

Metcalf could be the second coming of Jerry Rice and Pete Carroll would still have a problem on his hands on offense this year. Drew Lock and Geno Smith are competing for the starting job during training camp. Right now the best case scenario for 2022 at quarterback would be acquiring Jimmy Garappolo.

While some laughed about Seattle’s quarterback situation, others wondered what this latest big-money extension for a young wide receiver could mean for the next man in line: Deebo Samuel.

The 49ers receiver was also drafted in 2019 and is awaiting a payday as well.

Metcalf is now one of the best-paid receivers in the league. In terms of three-year cash he’s almost at Tyreek Hill’s level. His average pay is just outside the Top 5, tied with Stefon Diggs of the Bills.
