The San Francisco Giants are seemingly going to be sellers at the trade deadline and Carlos Rodón should be a hot commodity.

The trade deadline is nearing as we have less than 72 hours until the deadline lapses at 6 p.m. E.T. on Tuesday and the San Francisco Giants look like could be sellers. Jon Heyman of The New York Post reports that the Giants are ‘now listening’ on their veterans and Carlos Rodón and Joc Pederson could be among them.

With Rodón, there are a lot of teams that need some starting pitching help. In 2022, Rodón was an All-Star. In 20 starts, he has a 3.18 ERA, a 128 ERA+, a league-leading 2.41 FIP, a 1.121 WHIP, and an average of 3.0 walks and 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings. In 2021, Rodón was even better as he had a 2.37 ERA in 24 starts with a 0.957 WHIP and an average of 2.4 walks and 12.6 strikeouts per nine innings. He was an All-Star and came in fifth in AL Cy Young Award voting.

Teams are starting to become desperate so the Giants could get a haul for Rodón, especially because he is under contract through next season. Here are three teams that need to call the Giants about Rodón right now.

3 teams that should contact the Giants about Carlos Rodón

1) Minnesota Twins

On the season, the Minnesota Twins have a starting pitcher’s ERA of 4.20, which is 19th in baseball. Since July 1, their starters have an ERA of 6.80, which is 28th in the sport. Despite that, the club has a 53-47 record and a two-game lead on the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the AL Central.

Since the club optioned Devin Smeltzer to Triple-A St. Paul two weeks ago, the club has been without a left-handed starting pitcher.

The Twins are also very familiar with Rodón, since he was with the division rival Chicago White Sox for parts of seven seasons.
