The Red Sox seem to be ready to sell, These 3 players are most likely to go

It appears the Red Sox are starting to come to their senses and realize that this current team is not playoff-caliber. A great June in which they went 20-6 inflated their values, but they came scorching back down to Earth with a 7-19 record in July so far. During July, they’ve been outscored by an embarrassing amount, 169 to 97 runs. In that time frame, they have lost by over seven runs six times. In fact, aside from June, the team has gone 30-46 in April, May, and July combined. No wonder so many Red Sox rumors are being spread. This team was lying to itself saying they could be a contender.

Due to that reason, it’s exciting that at least three new names have been added to the trade block. According to insider Jon Heyman, the Red Sox are open to trading 3 soon-to-be free agents.

Now, teams have another way to get a catcher besides paying the Cubs a high price. The same goes for a power hitter now that Trey Mancini might be off the block. And with what the Mariners just paid for Luis Castillo, it’s wise that the Red Sox might put Eovaldi on the market.

Red Sox Rumors: 3 Trade destinations for J.D. Martinez

These Red Sox rumors feels more like truth than rumor. To be honest, who wouldn’t want a slugging designated hitter like Martinez? J.D. has mashed 30 doubles and 9 home runs en route to a terrific .289/.358/.461 batting line. He has a 124 OPS+. The 34-year-old can still get it done and would be a strong addition to a team wanting another big bat.

There are three teams that would fit Martinez perfectly. The first one has been connected to J.D. Martinez for the past week. That would be the New York Mets. The Mets have been seeking a big power bat after Dom Smith, J.D. Davis, and others have been a let-down. They can’t rely solely on Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor. Adding Martinez would give them an established designated hitter known for hitting in big moments. It would further deepen this lineup. This is a move meant to win the postseason where you need talented hitters 1-9.

Don’t be surprised to see the Mets push hard to trade for Martinez. This is a rumor that just makes too much sense.

A second team that would be a good fit for J.D. Martinez is the Milwaukee Brewers. They know they need to add some offense to their team and the easiest path to doing so would be at first base or the DH. Martinez is a liability in the field. But, he would add some much-needed power and offense to the lineup, especially against left-handed pitchers. Once again, this is a move to win the postseason. Of course, they have to make the playoffs and hold off the hot Cardinals.

A third team that would make sense to go out and acquire Martinez is the Atlanta Braves. They must catch up to the Mets so that they don’t have to worry about dog-fighting in the Wild Card. Ronald Acuña Jr has been on a slump. Marcell Ozuna and Eddie Rosario haven’t hit at all this year. Ozuna has a .674 OPS as their main DH. This offense needs to go get a power hitter or a hitter in general. The team has two great defenders in the outfield already with Michael Harris and Acuna. They can afford to move Ozuna or another player to the outfield to make room for Martinez.

This is a move that is about making the playoffs. Martinez could add some real power and hitting ability to a lineup that is in desperate need of some outside of Matt Olson, Dansby Swanson, or Austin Riley. In the playoffs, a five-some of Martinez, Olson, Acuña, Swanson, and Riley would be beyond dangerous.
