Rocket Mortgage Classic purse: Payout by player, finishing position
Breaking down the Rocket Mortgage Classic payout to see what prize money each finishing position will take home from the $8.4 million purse in Detroit.
No golf fan is circling their calendar for the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club but it’s an important stop on the PGA Tour as the next-to-last tournament before the FedExCup Playoffs begin. That created a bit of drama heading into the week and the results had been a highly entertaining tournament with two big-hitters leading the charge into Sunday’s final round.
Fresh off of his win at the 3M Open, Tony Finau showed no signs of slowing down in the Motor City as he jumped out for a share of the lead on Thursday and never looked back. Right next to him through 54 holes, however, was Canadian Taylor Pendrith, who came into the tournament on a quiet hot streak and ready to make some headway into the playoffs after a lengthy layoff due to injury.
All of the players were playing for FedExCup points but also for their share of the $8.4 million purse and of the Rocket Mortgage Classic payout as the winner will get $1.512 million. But how does the rest of the prize money break down? Let’s take a look.

With 75 players making the cut at Detroit Golf Club, there will obviously be some division with the money and the payout for the Rocket Mortgage at the bottom of the field. Still, it’s a nice winner’s payday.
Though this isn’t a prestigious tournament or one that garners much fanfare, Detroit Golf Club has delivered a pretty entertaining clash, particularly with Finau and Pendrith doing battle at the top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday.
