Chicago Cubs pitcher Marcus Stroman shared his thoughts on the Washington Nationals actually trading Juan Soto.
For the better part of a month, the MLB world waited with bated breath, wondering if the Washington Nationals would actually trade star outfielder Juan Soto. After Soto turned down a 15-year, $440 million contract, the Nationals began fielding calls, and sure enough, a team was willing to meet their trade demands — the San Diego Padres.
On Tuesday morning, multiple reports indicated that the Padres and Nationals agreed to a trade that sent Soto and first baseman Josh Bell to San Diego.
Chicago Cubs pitcher Marcus Stroman echoed the sentiment of many MLB fans who could not believe that the Nationals were once again moving on from a star player and face of the franchise.

The list of star players leaving the Nationals is a lengthy one. Bryce Harper signing with the Philadelphia Phillies in free agency ahead of the 2019 season. Anthony Rendon joining the Los Angeles Angels on a lucrative deal after Washington’s World Series win. Pitcher Max Scherzer and shortstop Trea Turner traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers last year. And now, Soto being dealt to the Padres.
There was fear of a potential hold up in the deal after Eric Hosmer, who was part of the deal, opted against agreeing to a deal to Washington. However, multiple reports indicate that this will not hold up the Soto trade.
Stroman shared his thoughts on a variety of topics, such as Hosmer staying in San Diego (so far), why he feels the Nationals contract offer to Soto was not enough, and constantly refreshing his Twitter feed for trade news.

Even with the Hosmer hold-up, Soto and Bell are still expected to head to San Diego, making the Padres a legit World Series contender on paper.
