MLB Field of Dreams game live stream, channel, start time: How to watch Reds-Cubs
The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds will face each other in the Field of Dreams game on Thursday night.
The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds will play in the 2022 Field of Dreams game in Dyersville, Iowa, which is about a 70-mile drive northeast of Cedar Rapids and a 200-mile drive from Wrigley Field in Chicago.
The game will take place in a stadium built just for MLB games as it is a few hundred yards from the field used for the filming of Field of Dreams, which was released 34 years ago in 1989. Neither the Reds (44-66) nor the Cubs (45-65) are great teams but it still will be a memorable event on Thursday night.
Who is the home team in the 2022 Field of Dreams game?
Even though the Field of Dreams site is closer to Wrigley Field in Chicago, the Cincinnati Reds will be the home team and the Chicago Cubs will be the away team in Thursday’s game.
What is the pitching matchup for the 2022 Field of Dreams game?
For the Cubs, left-hander Drew Smyly will start the game. He has a 4-6 record with a 3.97 ERA in 14 starts this season. He missed about six weeks on the IL due to an oblique strain and since he returned from the IL on July 10, he is 2-3 with a 4.30 ERA.
Toeing the slab for the Reds is fellow left-hander Nick Lodolo. The rookie made his MLB debut in mid-April and in nine MLB starts, he has a record 3-3 with a 4.40 ERA. In his last three starts, he has an ERA of 2.16.
How to watch the 2022 Field of Dreams game
The game will start at 7:15 p.m. ET. The game will exclusively be broadcast on your local FOX station and not by The Marquee Network or Bally Sports Ohio, the television homes of the Cubs and Reds.
As a result of the game being on FOX, it will not be viewable for audiences on MLB.TV until roughly 90 minutes after the game ends.
However, if you don’t have cable, we’ve got you covered. You can stream the game for free with fuboTV with a seven-day free trial.
After the game, the two clubs will have an off day on Friday to get back to Cincinnati and finish the rest of their three-game series on Saturday and Sunday in Cincinnati.
