Kevin Durant claps back at Twitter user who thinks he ruined basketball
Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant curates a Twitter debate on whether or not he has ruined the game of basketball by joining several different teams.
Kevin Durant’s Twitter bio reads, “I’m me, I do me, and I chill.”
Part of being Kevin Durant, aside from being one of the NBA’s best players, is infuriating many of its fans. KD has been known to engage in riling Twitter discourse, but Durant’s harsh replies are often responses to insults from fans.
Once again, Durant didn’t hold back when NBA fans alleged that he single-handedly ruined the game of basketball.
When one Twitter user predicted that the upcoming NBA CBA would result in a lockout, another said that this was the legacy of Kevin Durant. “Left the game in a worse shape than you found it,” the user added, tagging Durant.
Durant created a conversation around the topic, using the hashtag #ruinedthegame.
Another Twitter user jumped in, saying that Durant’s team-hopping is “kinda tainting” Durant’s NBA legacy.
Durant, of course, had a different perspective on the matter.
When a fan went into detail about how he ruined the game — by joining the Warriors after losing with the Thunder, then joining the Nets, and now demanding a trade — Durant told him to “enjoy that perspective.”

Durant doesn’t want to argue against the claims that he’s ruined his legacy by team-hopping — he’s just having fun with people who he believes will hate him regardless of what he does.
With fandoms being primarily team-driven, it’s frustrating for fans — primarily from OKC — to see one of their favorite players leave for another team, especially when it was a team they lost to in the 2016 Western Conference Finals.

No matter what a player does for a team, when they leave, discord will follow. For those who loved KD when he was on their team, the betrayal of his departure can lead to bitterness as fans are fed up with his desire to switch teams.
To his credit, team-hopping did work for KD — he won two NBA Championship with Golden State — but it also worked against him. After all, he would have won another chip if he had stayed in San Francisco, and the Nets experiment has ultimately resulted in disaster. James Harden is already gone, and both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are frequently included in trade conversations. Maybe that’s why someone recently told Durant that he needs to “clean up those media narratives.”
