LSU football: QB walking away from game after not win starting job
By John Buhler
Myles Brennan is leaving the LSU football team after not winning the starting quarterback job.
After being informed he was not going to be the main man, Myles Brennan walked away from the sport he loved, as he will no longer be part of Brian Kelly’s LSU football family.
Brennan was competing for the starting quarterback job in Baton Rouge in Kelly’s first year at the helm. Despite being the elder statesmen in the room, he was unable to beat out former Arizona State starter Jayden Daniels and promising former four-star Garrett Nussmeier, who will continue to battle through camp. True freshman Walker Howard will also compete for precious snaps, too.

LSU football: Myles Brennan abandons Brian Kelly’s family before Week 1
It is going to be so interesting how good, or bad, the Tigers will be during Kelly’s first year at the helm. While he might not be done winning yet, it is going to take some time for him to turn some of those LSU L’s into winning W’s. The good news is he has won everywhere he has been before. Even if it is the SEC, Kelly is the perfect head coach to help return these Bayou Bengals to glory.
Brennan may have had an impossible time following in the footsteps of The Geauxt Joe Burrow, but even a dock was too challenging for him last offseason. What is hard to understand is why Brennan decided to stay at LSU with a new coaching staff coming in. Any built-up equity he had with Ed Orgeron was useless once Kelly came down from South Bend and then recruited Daniels.
For now, LSU’s murky quarterback situation gets a little clearer. Nussmeier may have already been on campus before Kelly arrived, but he might be the most talented quarterback the Bayou Bengals have now. Then again, Daniels has plenty of starting experience from his days in the Pac-12 at Arizona State. Keep in mind Howard was the first high school quarterback Kelly recruited to LSU.
If Ryan Gosling can become a movie star after getting burnt at cornerback, anything can happen.
