6. CB Richard Sherman

Like a few other players on this list, the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro – most of that during his seven seasons with the Seahawks – has yet to latch on with an NFL team at the moment. But it’s hard to argue with the impact that star cornerback Richard Sherman has had during his professional career.

A fifth-round draft choice in 2011 from Stanford University, Richard Sherman brought a little moxie to Pete Carroll’s club and was arguably the star attraction in a Seattle secondary known as the ā€œLegion of Boom.ā€ He teamed with cornerback Brandon Browner and safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor to give Carroll’s club and was part of one of the league’s great defensive units of the current century.

Sherman joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2018 and spent three seasons in the Bay Area. In ’19, he made his third Super Bowl appearance (LIV) and of course, was part of those Seattle teams that reached the ā€œBig Gameā€ in 2013 (win) and ’14 (loss). And he wound up playing in five games for the Buccaneers in 2021.

All told, Sherman has totaled 37 interceptions (3 touchdowns) and 116 passes defensed in 144 regular-season games. Add in four postseason picks and that’s quite the resume. Will he take the field in 2022?
