San Francisco Giants fans were certainly excited to see Brandon Crawford hit a walk-off home run on Tuesday night, but maybe not as excited as his kids were

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning at Oracle Park on Tuesday night and the San Francisco Giants trailing 1-0, Brandon Crawford took an 0-1 pitch from Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Ian Kennedy deep over the center field wall to give the Giants a 2-1 victory.

Held to five hits throughout the game’s first two innings, the Giants got the late rally started when Thairo Estrada knocked a two-out triple before Crawford stepped to the plate and delivered the game-winner, the second for the Giants in the last three games.

According to a tweet from Baseball-Reference, Crawford’s two-out, come-from-behind walk-off home run was the first long ball matching that criteria for the Giants since Pablo Sandoval on May 12, 2009, against Washington’s Joe Beimel.

While Crawford’s home run had some historic weight to it, that didn’t matter much in the Crawford household at the moment of the big blast.

With a pair of kids in their pajamas and prepping to wind down for the night, the 35-year-old shortstop’s homer probably pushed bedtime back just a bit.

With two trips to the injured list since June 25, Crawford hasn’t been able to make a big impact for the Giants in recent games, with his Tuesday home run being the first long ball he has hit since returning from the IL on Aug. 6. It was also just his sixth home run of the season, a marked drop from the 24 he posted for the Giants as they won the National League West last season.

For one moment, however, nothing mattered much (including bedtime) in the Crawford household other than Dad coming through with a big hit to win the game.
