Kirk Cousins drops the remix to iconic catchphrase in Vikings joint practice
By Scott Rogust
Kirk Cousins famously said “you like that” when he was the quarterback for Washington. Entering the 2022 season with the Minnesota Vikings, he made a slight alteration to that phrase.
Back in 2015, when he was the quarterback for the now-Washington Commanders, Kirk Cousins orchestrated a 24-point comeback to lead the team to a 31-30 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After the game, cameras showed Cousins walking to the locker room, where he uttered the now famous words “you like that?” That has been a phrase that has followed Cousins throughout his career.
Much like anything, a remix is bound to happen.
During Minnesota Vikings practice on Wednesday, Aug. 17, Cousins completed a pass to wide receiver Adam Thielen, and yelled “you f—ing like that?” That comes courtesy of multiple media members who were in attendance.
Kirk Cousins reveals remix of famous catchphrase
Well, that’s money being added to the swear jar.
This is Cousins’ first practice back after he tested positive for COVID-19 last week, which forced him to miss Minnesota’s preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Cousins is entering his fifth season with the Vikings, but 2022 will be a bit different. Mike Zimmer is no longer the head coach, as he was fired after the team missed the playoffs last season. Now, Cousins’ new coach is Kevin O’Connell, who was the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams the past two years, and Cousins’ quarterback coach in Washington back in 2017.
The hope in 2022 is that O’Connell can bring the Vikings offense to similar heights like the Rams last year, who powered their way to a Super Bowl 56 victory. The Vikings have the talent, highlighted by wide receiver Justin Jefferson and running back Dalvin Cook.
If the Vikings do live up to the hype, we could very well hear Cousins say that phrase throughout the 2022 season. Whether the swear word will be used each time will remain to be seen.
