3 reasons why Houston Astros should be World Series favorites

3. Astros bullpen is going to shorten games in the postseason
How ‘bout that Astros bullpen? The unsung heroes of any team, it’s only in the last two decades when relief pitchers have become superhuman. Having a good crop of relievers might not even be as valuable as detrimental as it is to have a weak bullpen.
The Astros relievers are a mix of returning players, castoffs from other organizations, and a few newbies. Despite not even having a name-brand closer, Houston is secure with Ryan Pressly in the back. In front of him, we find Rafael Montero and Hector Neris along with Ryne Stanek.
An ability to shorten games cannot be overstated. If the Astros starters can keep things competitive or leave with a lead, their chances at victory are much than a lot of clubs out there.
Somewhat impressively, only Bryan Abreu was an original draft pick by the Astros. The rest of the regulars have been traded for or brought in as free agents. They have a keen sense of what they want for their bullpen and get those players.
All results cannot fall squarely on the relief pitchers. They always need a lead to protect in order to function at their best. It’s up to the starting pitchers and the experienced bats to make sure by the time they do enter that there is a bigger crooked number on their side of the scoreboard than the other team.
