Marcell Ozuna made his return to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday and the broadcast team didn’t hesitate to troll him at the plate.

After being arrested for DUI last week in Georgia, Atlanta Braves outfielder and designated hitter Marcell Ozuna returned to the lineup on Sunday for the series finale against the Houston Astros. Not only was he greeted by a host of booing fans but the broadcast team didn’t hesitate to take their own shot at Ozuna.

When the veteran outfielder, coming off of his second arrest in the last 15 months with Atlanta, the broadcast team coyly alluded to the video of Ozuna’s DUI traffic stop in which he told the officer, “I’m Ozuna from the Braves.”

So as he stepped into the box, the announcer said, “Here is Ozuna from the Braves.”

Absolutely savage from the broadcast team, but well-deserved for a player who has proven unreliable off of the field and, just as much so, unreliable on it as well.

Braves broadcasters troll Marcell Ozuna in return as struggles continue

This season, Ozuna is slashing .213/.262/.391 for an OPS of .653. Of all seasons where he’s played at least 100 games, he’s only had two where he produced an OPS below .700, including this season.

Now controversial and underperforming, Ozuna doesn’t have much to offer the Braves anymore. He’s lost the trust of several fans. According to Yahoo Sports, Braves fan Luke Hulsey stated, “I was booing a little bit, too. I really put my heart and trust into him. And for him to go out and act unprofessional, we are upset with it.”

The boo birds were out for him at Truist Park on Sunday and it’s clear from the fans’ and broadcast team’s reactions that they are fed up with him. And even if he wasn’t hitting atrociously, that might still be the case given his situation.
