Knicks adding new courtside season tickets for $3K apiece

The New York Knicks have some of the most expensive game tickets in the league, and they’re about to get even less affordable.
The New York Knicks have some of the most expensive game tickets in the league, with the cheapest seats typically starting over $100. Team owner James Dolan is planning for a new section of ultra-premium courtside seats that are expected to sell for as much as $3K per ticket, according to the New York Post.
The new seats will be located right next to the scorer’s table and the floor. The Knicks play at Madison Square Garden in New York City, which is one of the most popular sporting venues.
New York is also one of the most popular NBA teams, so the team and the venue likely have the ability to drive in fans that will pay the price for the new and great courtside seats.
The Knicks have a great ability of driving in money
Dolan won’t drive up ticket prices in any season following a non-playoff season. Though New York briefly made the playoffs last season, the franchise hasn’t had enough postseason success. They haven’t won a title since 1973.
However, according to the New York Post, “Last season, the Knicks averaged $2.99 million in gate receipts per game, third in the league.”
New York is certainly not the best team in the league, but they have some of the most dedicated fans. Fans that hail from New York are generally known for their passion about their sport teams, so it’s no surprise that the Knicks drive in a great amount of money.
