Breaking down the ACC football win total predictions with our picks for over or under the lines set for Clemson, Miami, Florida State, NC State and more.

The college football season is all but here and the ACC football season will mercifully get a headstart with a few games in Week 0 as North Carolina takes on Florida A&M and Florida State plays Duquesne. That should be a win for both ACC programs to start the year, but what’s next for each team?

Better yet, how many games will every ACC football team win in the 2022 season?

That’s what we’re tackling with an emphasis on the gambling angle as we look at the win total over/under lines for every ACC team and make our picks and predictions. Going in alphabetical order through the conference, let’s dive in.

ACC football win total predictions: Over/Under picks for every team in 2022

Boston College football win total prediction: Over 6.5 (+130)

I’m not sure why there is so much value on the over here but I’m jumping on it. Yes, Boston College has to replace four offensive linemen, which is a concern. At the same time, though, Phil Jurkovec is one of the best quarterbacks in the conference and is now fully healthy with a quality set of weapons. The defense should improve with seven returning starters and I love for this team to get to seven wins in 2022.

Clemson football win total prediction: Over 10.5 (+110)

Particularly with the sour taste that Dabo Swinney’s team left in fans’ mouths last season, I understand why you might be hesitant to take the over for Clemson. And I too am not sold yet on D.J. Uiagalelei. Yet, the defense was elite last year and could be the best in college football this season as they’re led by Bryan Bresee, Myles Murphy and more.

Most importantly, though, DJU isn’t on an island. If he struggles, Cade Klubnik is waiting to take his job at any moment. That’s a huge upgrade that raises the floor of the team as a whole. They could drop a game to Notre Dame or NC State, but I don’t see them losing both of those games while the rest look winnable.

Duke football win total prediction: Under 3.0 (+115)

Long term, the hire of Mike Elko should be good for the Blue Devils. But he faces a massive first-year boulder in front of him that even Sisyphus would look at and say “nah, bro.” The offense lost its best playmakers and, even with a veteran O-line, that’s a major issue. Moreover, this was one of the worst defenses in college football last year — the group allowed 46.6 points per game — and the personnel isn’t all that much better. 3-9 is possible but we’re playing the under with a push protecting us.

Florida State football win total prediction: Under 6.5 (+110)

Before I have the city of Tallahassee at my doorstep ready for fisticuffs, let me say that Florida State is going to be noticeably improved this season. Mike Norvell has the roster in a better place that should result in a better team. The problem is that the rest of the ACC, particularly the top of the conference, also looks better.

The Seminoles could pick off some upset wins along the way and I have them at 6-6 to make a bowl game for the first time under Norvell, but that’s still not good enough to hit this over, particularly when we’re getting plus value on the under.
