Georgia Tech football win total prediction: Under 3.5 (-120)

Make or break time for Geoff Collins in Atlanta is going to end up trending towards the latter. He’s won just nine games over the past three years and now starts the season with a brutal non-conference slate that includes Ole Miss, UCF and rival Georgia. Now a still-developing passing offense with Jeff Sims at quarterback has to regroup at wide receiver and the offensive line has to be rebuilt.

This is a confident under for me as the Yellow Jackets could very easily end up at 2-10 this season.

Louisville football win total prediction: Over 6.5 (+115)

It’s not an easy schedule for Louisville, which is probably why the over is at plus money. But even with the disappointing results the Cardinals have produced in recent years, it would be hard for me to see this team ending up with less than seven wins.

Malik Cunningham, if he can stay healthy, is a dynamic dual-threat that has a terrific group around him with Jordan Watkins and Tyler Harrell at receiver along with unsung hero Marshon Ford at tight end — and don’t forget an O-line with four starters returning. With an experienced defense that showed steps forward from 2020 to 2021 having its core back, they should be better there and get to 7-5 at minimum.

Miami football win total prediction: Over 8.5 (-125)

This is honestly a disrespectful win total for The U. The juice to the over says that the public at least somewhat agrees, but it’s still well in the range where I’m willing to hammer it.

Miami is entering year one under Mario Cristobal but, more importantly, the second year of Tyler Van Dyke at quarterback and with Josh Gattis taking over the offense. The defense has seen a rejuvenation of top-end talent by way of the transfer portal and some stud recruits developing into starters. If there’s anything that limits the ceiling, it’s Van Dyke not having a proven receiving corps, but there is enough to make me think that 9-3 is closer to the floor for the Hurricanes than the ceiling.

UNC football win total prediction: Over 7.0 (-110)

Mack Brown has failed to meet high expectations recently but now North Carolina enters the season with some roster turnover and less optimism (far much so) than last year. And yet, that makes me higher on the Tar Heels than I would be otherwise.

Drake Maye has won the quarterback battle and has high hopes as a former highly rated recruit and working with one of the best receivers in the country, Josh Downs. The big hopes for this team playing above their preseason perception, though, is the offensive line, defensive line and secondary playing to their recruiting pedigree, which we haven’t seen to this point. Looking at this schedule, though, 7-5 seems the most likely, so I’m betting on talent potentially scoring an extra win to get the over instead of a push.

NC State football win total prediction: Over 8.5 (-150)

This is the biggest lock in the ACC to me. Yes, I know it’s at -150 and I’d still hammer it. NC State is a 10-win team by my estimation with the honest-to-god potential, particularly if Clemson were to not rebound next season, to finish the year at 12-0.

Dennis Leary is the best quarterback in the conference and should now be the focal point of a prolific offense that returns starters galore. That’s even more so on the defense, a unit that gets its best player, Payton Wilson, back in the fold and could be dominant in every matchup. I truly don’t understand even entertaining this Wolfpack team not winning at least nine games.
