Cleveland Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett responded to a question about whether it is hard to not try being Deshaun Watson on the field.
The Cleveland Browns have been in the national spotlight due in part to quarterback Deshaun Watson. After being accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct and assault, Watson was initially handed a six-game suspension. After an appeal from the NFL, however, Watson is now suspended 11 games and received a $5 million fine.
With that, the Browns will turn to Jacoby Brissett to be their starting quarterback for their first 11 games of the 2022 season.
While speaking with the media on Aug. 24, Brissett was asked how tough it is to try to not be Watson on the field. Brissett responded by saying that “it’s very easy” for him not to be Watson.

In mid-March, the Browns agreed to a trade with the Houston Texans to acquire Watson in exchange for multiple draft picks. The team then gave him a five-year, $230 million contract, despite the fact that he was still facing multiple civil lawsuits over the sexual misconduct and assault allegations.
Days after the trade for Watson, the team signed Brissett to a one-year deal. It was expected that he would fill in as starter for however many games Watson would be suspended for. Now we know the number of games will be 11.
Brissett has had plenty of starting experience during his time in the NFL. He filled in for Andrew Luck due to injury in 2017 and later his retirement in 2019. Even this past season, Brissett earned a handful of starts with the Miami Dolphins after Tua Tagovailoa went down with injury.
In his career as a starter, Brissett led his teams to a 14-23 record in 37 games. He started five games for the Dolphins last year, earning a 2-3 record. Playing in 11 total games with Miami, Brissett completed 62.7-percent of his passes for 1,283 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Overall, Brissett has thrown for 7,742 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions on a 60.2 completion percentage in his career.
Brissett will look to lead the Browns to a 1-0 record to start the upcoming season. His opponent will be the Carolina Panthers, led by former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.
