With the season fast approaching, the Bengals will let Joe Burrow practice without limitations for the first time on Wednesday.

Joe Burrow is back in the saddle.

The Bengals quarterback, who had an appendectomy at the end of July, will finally get the chance to practice fully this week with time ticking down on the preseason.

Burrow gave the media the good news on Wednesday saying he would be full go in practice.

Joe Burrow injury update: Bengals QB to practice without limitations

Burrow hasn’t been able to suit up for the Bengals in a preseason game yet, though getting him out there is more about shaking off some rust than needing him to prove anything at this point.

The third-year quarterback is coming off an outstanding sophomore season, leading the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance. He turned a 4-11 2020 season around to a 10-7 regular season in 2021. He’s making living up to being a No. 1 overall draft pick look easy.

His task in 2022 is to build off a season in which he threw 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns. It won’t be easy, especially since he’s had a chunk of his preseason preparations taken away.

Appendicitis was definitely an unfortunate development. On the plus side, recovery for that is pretty straightforward forward and it’s not the type of injury that is likely to impact performance in any way.

The biggest hurdle for Burrow will be getting comfortable standing in the pocket and taking a hit. Of course, that’s not something the Bengals will be eager to test out this soon. He can save that for the start of the season.

As for the idea of taking some contact, Burrow said, “It wouldn’t be football without it.” So he’s not shying away, and we wouldn’t expect him to.
