College football power rankings: Top 25 quarterbacks for the 2022 season
By John Buhler
If Phil Jurkovec was quarterbacking the Fighting Irish, no doubt, he’d be top 10
Somehow, someway, we have grossly undervalued the great quarterback Boston College has in Phil Jurkovec. He was limited to only six games played last year, which plays a big part in why he is not higher up on this list. However, if he was the starting quarterback at Notre Dame, no doubt he would find himself inside of the top 10. His talent is that undeniable, but the guy has to be healthy.
People think highly of BC head coach Jeff Hafley. The same sort of principles apply to Jurkovec. In theory, Boston College should field a sneaky-good team in the ACC. However, we are getting tired of theoretical scenarios, and we need to see if Boston College is ready to pop or not. While BC has a chance to prove itself playing in the tougher Atlantic Division, this could also be their undoing.
He is not Matt Ryan or Doug Flutie, but the Eagles still have something very special in Jurkovec.
Soccer girlfriend transfer reasons have knocked Kedon Slovis down a peg or five
Kedon Slovis’ reputation took a hit after last year. After winning the starting job over JT Daniels at USC, he would go on to lose it to Jaxson Dart and all three quarterbacks ended up transferring because that is how the Clay Helton era of Trojans football went. For now, Slovis has the tall task of replacing Kenny Pickett at Pitt, but don’t worry, gang. His soccer girlfriend goes to this school.
While Pitt is a massive regression candidate this season, Slovis did garner first-round quarterback hype not all that long ago. Was Pickett seen as a first-rounder entering last season? No, but he is now the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Slovis does not have Jordan Addison or Mark Whipple, but he showed he could do more with less while with the Trojans.
If Pitt wins the Backyard Brawl over Daniels’ West Virginia Moutaineers, we will talk about Slovis.
