2. Ian Happ

Ian Happ’s name came up in the rumor mill at the 2022 Trade Deadline, but the All-Star outfielder ended up staying put. The Cubs may be willing to move on from him this offseason if it means acquiring a true star like Ohtani. Keep in mind, he is having an excellent season, and his trade value is at its highest because of it. In 125 games this season, Happ has 15 home runs 62 RBIs, and a .276 batting average.

Happ would provide the Angels with another All-Star caliber player, so it’s hard to believe that they would be against getting him. Furthermore, they could also use him as trade bait at the 2023 MLB Trade Deadline if they find themselves out of the playoff picture again next season. He is a UFA after next season, so he could be used to bring in more prospects as a rental, too.

Overall, Happ could be a nice veteran player to add if the Angels revamp their roster this offseason. Thus, they would be wise to acquire him from the Cubs in any Ohtani trade.
