Packers surprise cuts: Tyler Goodson
According to Ian Rapoport, Tyler Goodson is gone… for now. The Packers — like they do with most surprising cuts — pine for the opportunity to bring these fringe players back on the practice squad, but Goodson is a threat to sign elsewhere, potentially.
Goodson nearly played well enough to join the running back room with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, rushing for a touchdown in the Packers’ final preseason game.
His abilities as a rusher and a screen passer were on display, as he averaged 3.82 yards per carry and 7.5 yards per reception.
The Packers run the risk of losing Goodson altogether if he doesn’t clear waivers. Coming off their final game against the Chiefs, he’s front of mind after a flashy spin-move touchdown where he evaded multiple tackles.
Ultimately, Patrick Taylor takes the third running back slot instead.
