Perhaps the most notable name on Kansas City’s list of released players was wide receiver Josh Gordon.

The veteran wide receiver made a name for himself in the 2013 season with the Cleveland Browns, where he led the league with 1,646 receiving yards and a 117.6 yards per game average. He would miss time due to suspensions, but played with other teams such as the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. But in 2021, Gordon signed a contract with the Chiefs.

Last season, Gordon caught 5-of-14 targets for 32 yards and a touchdowns in 12 games.

The Chiefs had some turnover this offseason, where the team traded Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins and watched Byron Pringle sign with the Chicago Bears in free agency. They did make additions, such as JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency, and Skyy Moore through the NFL Draft.

This preseason, Gordon played in all three games, but logged just one reception for 10 yards in the Commanders game. Ultimately, the Chiefs, opted to release Gordon by the Aug. 30 deadline.

One team has already set their attention on Gordon, and that is the Titans, as they are hosting a visit for him on Aug. 31, per NFL Network’s Taylor Bisciotti.
