Where is Ball State University?
As the football team opens the season with a notable opponent Thursday night, you may wonder–where is Ball State University located?
The Ball State Cardinals will open their 2022 football season on Thursday night. Not only that, but they’ll start Mike Neu’s seventh season as head coach against an SEC opponent in the Tennessee Volunteers (7 p.m. ET, SEC Network).
It’ll be a prominent stage for a Group of 5 team coming off back-to-back bowl appearances. The Volunteers, as expected, are favored by plenty on Thursday night (35.5 points, via ESPN’s Pick Center).
Ball State went 7-1 and won the MAC title in 2020, it’s first MAC championship since 1996, followed by a 6-7 campaign last year. Tennessee should not take them lightly, lest they be subject to a big upset at home against a team that is supposed to (in their minds, and likely) just collect a nice check to come to town and lose.
Playing in a small conference and being off the radar more generally, some may have a question about Ball State as they head toward taking on a name-brand Power 5 opponent in their season opener.
