College football power rankings: Top 10 running backs for the 2022 season
By Scott Rogust
2. TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes are set to have one of the top quarterbacks and wide receivers in C.J. Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. They also have TreVeyon Henderson, who is going to be a top running back at the collegiate level.
Henderson made quite the statement in his freshman year with the Buckeyes. There was his breakout performance in the third week of the season, where he ran for 277 yards and three touchdowns against Tulsa. His rushing yards total were the most in a single game by a freshman at Ohio State, breaking Archie Griffin’s record.
Overall, Henderson ran for 1, 248 yards and 15 touchdowns on 183 carries.
Ohio State will be an electric offense to watch this season, and Henderson will be a name to watch when they are on the gridiron.
1. Bijan Robinson, Texas
The top-ranked running back on this list should not come as a shock, especially if you are a regular viewer of college football. The Texas Longhorns may not be back just yet, but they do have themselves a star in Bijan Robinson.
After a freshman year where he ran for 703 yards and four touchdowns on 86 carries in nine games, Robinson had a huge sophomore campaign. In 10 games, he logged 1,127 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns on 195 attempts. That season helped him earn First-team All-Big 12 honors.
Robinson is already expected to be the first running back selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. He can only help his odds with what should be another solid campaign with the Longhorns. Hence why he makes it to the top of our list.
