San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle predicted that pass rusher Nick Bosa will have a huge 2022 season.

The San Francisco 49ers have a huge year in front of them, as they were just one win short of making the Super Bowl last year. The team is moving forward with Trey Lance as their quarterback, with Jimmy Garoppolo being an insurance policy at the position. Let’s not forget that their defense will still be relatively strong on paper. And there is someone to keep an eye on throughout the season.

During an appearance on the latest episode of “The Richard Sherman Podcast,” 49ers tight end George Kittle predicted that pass rusher Nick Bosa will have a huge season. How huge? Well, there could be some awards involved.

“I’ll also say this, Sherm: I think Nick Bosa is, I want to say probably going to be Defensive Player of the Year, I think he’s going to have a shot at being an MVP as long as people give him the flowers,” Kittle said, h/t NBC Sports Bay Area. “When he’s out there and he sets a new sack record and stuff, that man — I know he’s going to get double teams every single play, but he’s so good.”

49ers: George Kittle predicts huge year for Nick Bosa

The 49ers used their second-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft after he had a successful collegiate tenure with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He made an impact in his first season, as he recorded 47 combined tackles, 25 quarterback hits, nine sacks, and two fumble recoveries. That earned him the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Bosa’s second season was cut short after he tore his ACL in the team’s Week 2 game against the New York Jets.

This past season, Bosa played a full 17 games, where he led the league with 21 tackles for loss. Additionally, he recorded 52 combined tackles, 15.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles.

You heard it from Kittle, keep your eyes on Bosa this season not just in the chase for Defensive Player of the Year, but also MVP.
