These three September roster moves and changes can help the Atlanta Braves ensure they repeat as World Series champions.

The Atlanta Braves have big goals for the 2022 season. In order to do what no team has done since the 2000 New York Yankees and repeat as World Series champions, it’s going to take some calculated roster navigation.

The Braves won’t be able to get too many quality players from outside of the organization. Keeping players healthy is probably the best thing they can do.

However, even if they do that to perfection, there should be some other considerations from the front office and the manager. To ensure a World Series repeat, these three items should be on the agenda.

1) Braves should test Raisel Iglesias in the closer spot

Kenley Jansen is struggling at the wrong time. It’s in the postseason when you want your closer at his sharpest. Unfortunately, Jenson isn’t at his best right now.

The Braves do have an obvious replacement. Although it’s A.J. Minter who has five saves, trade deadline acquisition Raisel Iglesias should be someone Brian Snitker tests out in the closer role. He’s done it before with great success — let’s see if he can do it with the Braves in 2022.

Iglesias has been firing well since moving from the Los Angeles Angels to Atlanta. He has a 0.71 ERA in his first 12.2 innings of work for Atlanta. The sample size may be small, but the results are incredibly promising for a guy the Angels couldn’t wait to get rid of.

Jansen has pitched his way out of Georgia, meaning he would be an obvious free agent at the end of the season to end up elsewhere. As for Iglesias, he is already the next in line to take on the closer duties for next season. In such a critical point of the season, the Braves cannot afford to let Jansen take the mound and blow saves. They also shouldn’t wait until the postseason to make the switch.

Nothing has to be official. The team just has to have an answer for those final three outs.
