5 best fantasy football pickups to make for Week 1

Let’s break down the five best fantasy football pickups to make for Week 1.
On Sept. 8, the NFL regular season will officially begin. And with that, the fantasy football season begins.
So, let’s take a look at the five best fantasy football pickups to make for Week 1.
5. TE Brevin Jordan, Houston Texans
Rostered: 1.9%
In 2021, Brevin Jordan showed flashes of upside. After being inactive for the beginning of the season, the rookie tight end got an opportunity to play a role in Houston’s offense. From Week 8 to Week 16, Jordan scored 53.9 fantasy points, which was the 20th-most among tight ends during that span.
Jordan will look to continue to build upon that momentum in his second NFL season. He is the top tight end on the Texans’ depth chart, and he could establish himself as the second option in their passing game. Last season, Brandin Cooks was the only player on the Texans to record 35+ receptions. The recent acquisition of wide receiver Tyler Johnson should not hamper Jordan’s target share, either.
In addition, Davis Mills is an underrated fantasy quarterback. As the season progressed, his numbers continued to improve. Over the final five weeks of the 2021 season, he was tenth among quarterbacks in fantasy points. During that span, Mills was also eighth in the league in passing yards.
Jordan will open the season with a very favorable matchup. Last season, the Colts allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Jordan is an under-the-radar streaming option. He should be rostered in deeper leagues.
