Packers: It wasn’t in the Cards for Jaire Alexander to win this CFB bet

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander had to do pushups for Matt Schneidman of The Athletic after the Syracuse Orange crushed his Louisville Cardinals in Saturday’s Week 1 game.

Even though the Green Bay Packers are expected to win most of their games this season, star cornerback Jaire Alexander still had to do 20 pushups after losing a college football bet to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

While many NFL fans know that Alexander used to star at Louisville, Schneidman’s alma mater is that of Syracuse University, a division rival of the Cardinals in the ACC Atlantic. After Louisville got “dog walked” by Syracuse to the tune of 31-7, Alexander was a man of his word. He dropped and gave Schneidman 20 immediately after Packers picture day. While Alexander’s form is tremendous, his beloved Cardinals find themselves at a very rough 0-1.

Despite the Orange and the Cardinals not being serious threats to get to Charlotte out of the division, this is a critical year for both teams, especially the head coaches. Although Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech faces the most amount of pressure in the ACC, Syracuse’s Dino Babers and Louisville’s Scott Satterfield are somewhat on the hot seats themselves. They have to win now.

Syracuse does have one of the best running backs in the country in Sean Tucker, while Louisville has a promising quarterback in Malik Cunningham. Unfortunately, these two teams play in the same division as Clemson and North Carolina State, the two likeliest programs to represent the ACC Atlantic in Charlotte. For now, Schneidman can relish over winning his bet with Alexander.

As far as the Packers are concerned, they should be the favorites to win the NFC North again, although the Minnesota Vikings do seem to be their biggest challenger in-division. To be frank, the only thing that matters is for Green Bay to take advantage of the NFC being historically down this season. If the defense is as good as advertised, they can get to the Super Bowl over in Glendale.

Win or lose, it is always great to see NFL players making silly bets involving their college teams.
