College football bettor cashes in big on Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Wisconsin upsets
By Scott Rogust
Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin may have all lost, but there was one big winner on the day as a result.
There may not have been many big upsets in the opening week of the college football season, but Week 2 made up for it.
Heading into Saturday night (Sept. 10), three top 25 teams lost. The No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish fell 26-21 to the Marshall Thundering Herd. Texas A&M Aggies, the sixth-ranked team in the nation, lost 17-14 to the Appalachian State Mountaineers. The No. 19 Wisconsin Badgers were defeated 17-14 by the Washington State Cougars.
While those top teams lost, there was one huge winner. A bettor in New Jersey won $34,450 on a $50 money-line, in-game parlay by picking Marshall, Appalachian State, and Washington State, per ESPN’s David Payne Purdum.
Bettor wins on Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin losses
What a day for New Jersey. This bettor wins big money, and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights defeated the Wagner Seahawks 66-7!
Notre Dame’s loss was solidified after Tyler Buchner threw an interception to Steven Gilmore that was returned for a touchdown, extending Marshall’s lead to 26-15 with over four minutes remaining in regulation.
Texas A&M had the chance to tie things up late against Appalachian State, but Caden Davis missed a 47-yard field goal attempt. That allowed the Mountaineers to run out the clock and secure the win.
Wisconsin was unable to put points on the board after the Cameron Ward threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Nakia Watson to give Washington State the 17-14 lead late in the third quarter.
Just know that when Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Texas A&M lost, there was one person in the Garden State celebrating.
