10 RB sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 1
With running backs being arguably the most important position in fantasy football, it’s important to get production weekly. Check out these Week 1 sleepers.
Running backs play a vital part of a fantasy football roster. It’s crucial to have several starting-caliber players on your team. It’s also helpful to have a few sleepers, guys who could outperform where they’re being valued.
For the Week 1 NFL slate, there are several fantasy running back sleepers that are worthy of FLEX consideration, as well as a spot in your daily fantasy lineups. Let’s get into it!
10. Week 1 Fantasy Football RB sleepers: Nyheim Hines, Indianapolis Colts
Despite Jonathan Taylor’s historic second year, the drum was beating loudly for his backup this offseason. He’s often been talked about as being a bigger part of the Indianapolis Colts‘ offense this season. His pass-catching talents could mesh with new Colts’ quarterback Matt Ryan.
Don’t expect Hines to break out of the gates as a fantasy stud in Week 1, but he may have upside as a PPR play this week. He’s a dirt cheap option in DFS that may get you some value. Obviously, Taylor is the bellcow here, but Hines could have a bigger role and he’s basically free everywhere.
9. Week 1 Fantasy Football RB sleepers: J.D. McKissic, Washington Commanders
A lot has been discussed about the Washington Commanders’ backfield within the last few weeks. It started when chatter arose about rookie runner Brian Robinson eclipsing Antonio Gibson on the depth chart, then followed by Gibson practicing with the special teams unit in practice. It looked like Robinson had run away with the job, until the scary incident he had a couple of weeks ago.
Nobody has talked about the main pass-catching option at running back: J.D. McKissic, who has been prying passing down work from Gibson for a couple of years now. There’s no reason why McKissic won’t play heavy snaps in Week 1 as a pass-catching option. Like Hines, McKissic could offer some real sleeper appeal, especially with the team’s apparent lack of confidence in Gibson.
