The Notre Dame Fighting Irish trailed the Marshall Thundering Herd 9-7 at halftime, and their fans were far from excited.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish put up a strong fight in their season opener on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes. It was a close matchup early on, but the Buckeyes eventually pulled away to pick up the 21-10 victory. The Fighting Irish did stand a good chance to pick up their first win of the season, as they took on the Marshall Thundering Herd.
Instead, Notre Dame struggled early on, and actually trailed Marshall 9-7 entering halftime.
As you would imagine, fans of the Fighting Irish were far from thrilled. Ohm and there were plenty of Twitter users who decided to poke fun at Notre Dame.

They lead Notre Dame 9-7.
This team better look way different in the second half. 7 points in one half against Marshall is sickening.
Notre Dame has scored 17 points in the the last 6 quarters of football under OC Tommy Rees against a team without their DC, a team with a brand new DC and Marshall. pic.twitter.com/Isxnq5Ynzr

What Catholic ceremony does #NotreDame need at halftime? Pregame Mass didn't seem to be the answer.

Tyler Buchner did not have the best half in terms of passing, as he completed just 50 percent of his throws (8-for-16) for 89 yards and one interception. Buchner did, however, rush for Notre Dame’s lone touchdown of the first 30 minutes of the game clock.
Meanwhile, Marshall quarterback Henry Colombi was nearly perfect on his throws, completing 11-of-14 for 111 yards. Then, there was running back Khalan Laborn, who ran for 68 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
Notre Dame will look to bounce back in the second half. If not, they will drop their second game of the season, and will without a doubt continue to tumble down the AP Top 25 rankings.
