Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M get trolled relentlessly after being upset by App State
Texas A&M got into trouble against Appalachian State prompting Aggies fans to go apoplectic on head coach Jimbo Fisher for the performance.
Week 2 of the college football slate decided the theme would be “Upset Specials.”
Texas started the day by almost besting the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide but Marshall delivered the first blow of the day by knocking off No. 8 Notre Dame.
The upset fairy wasn’t done either because Appalachian State decided to follow through on all the upset alerts that got tagged onto their game with Texas A&M. They defeated the Aggies, 17-14.
After beating Alabama last year and bringing in a top-rated recruiting class, A&M fans hoped that Jimbo Fisher would finally take them to the promised land. App State said, “not so fast my friends.”
Texas A&M message boards and CFB Twitter lighting up Jimbo Fisher
The first people to lambast the Aggie head coach were Texas A&M fans themselves. The message boards were on fire even before the upset was assured.
Then Twitter got to have a turn trolling Fisher and the Aggies.
Fisher is one of the highest-paid coaches in college football and he is expected to bring a national title to College Station. This definitely wasn’t part of the plan.
The Aggies have lived this nightmare before. Their offense just wasn’t effective while the Mountaineers took advantage of the low-scoring game to take control.
Appalachian State announced their intent with a second-quarter touchdown to open the scoring but A&M responded soon after with their first touchdown.
The second half brought much of the same. The Mountaineers found the endzone late in the third quarter but the Aggies returned the ensuing kickoff to tie things back up.
The fourth quarter favored App State, who deservedly took the lead with eight minutes to play and then held on to win.
