Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is having a celebration-worthy season opener after sacking on his former quarterback twice.

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is having a celebration-worthy season opener. He faced the Carolina Panthers and sacked Baker Mayfield twice.

In a Tweet by Dov Kleiman, Garrett is shown running up behind Mayfield and tackling him to the ground before he could throw. According to Kleiman, “Garrett is 4 sacks away from the all-time mark in Browns history.”

The Panthers, on the other hand, are having a rough season opener. They’re down in the final quarter and a win isn’t looking promising. If the Browns pull off a win, it’ll certainly be notable.

According to Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports, “The Browns are winless in their last 17 season openers, and haven’t won a Week 1 game on the road since 1994, when Bill Belichick and Vinny Testaverde led Cleveland to a win over Cincinnati.”

Garrett wanted to be a leader this season, and he’s certainly achieving that.

Garrett is turning the franchise around, but it wasn’t enough to achieve as much success as hoped for last season. This season, he’s determined to be even better.

According to Scott Petrak of Browns Zone, Garrett stated that the “record last year” is what’s pushing him to be even better and more vocal.

Defensive coordinator Joe Woods said of Garrett, “He is playing at another level in practice. This guy is coming off the edge 2 feet from the ground. It is impressive, and he looks like a running back playing defensive end. I definitely feel like his mindset is to be a dominant player this year. I know it always is, but it just feels different from what I saw so far in practice. Definitely looking forward to him having a big season for us.”

The Browns could be on their way to an incredible season, with a lot of credit due to Garrett.
